Just Say "NO!" to Idaho's State
Health Care Exchange
(Dec 16, 2012)
The main problem with setting up
a state health care exchange is that if you accept your opponent's basic premise -- i.e.
that the government has the right to
strip you of your freedoms and force you to buy any commodity or service --
you automatically lose the debate and then all your opponent has to do -- since
you accepted his premise -- is just finish you off with all kinds of new
laws, false rhetoric, economic sophisms, more bureaucracy and more government intervention
into whatever premise you just gave up.
We should have said "No"
to the federal government on all their interventionism a long time ago.
Now we're not only in bed with them, we're practically pregnant.
Boise, ID
-- Whoa, girl friends, pull up the barn floor and
pour yourselves another hot cup of Rocket Java. Idaho Governor Butch
Otter is, once again, selling out his Libertarian principles to the federal
government.
This time it's for Obamacare, nicknamed The Affordable Save-The-Poor
Tax-The-Rich Free-Cookies-For-My-Friends Care Act.
Gov Otter has concluded that Idaho has only two choices: (1)
set up a state health care exchange, or (2) the federal
government will do it for us. Nothing could be further from the truth.
In fact, it's exactly the opposite, plus we do have a third choice:
just say "NO."
Regarding the first choice, as Wayne Hoffman from the Idaho
Freedom Foundation and the Libertarian Cato Institute have concluded, if
Idaho caves in and establishes a state health care exchange, we lose the
legal right to fight against Obamacare in the future. And, with either
choice (1) or (2), Idaho's state health care exchange will still be run by
the bureaucrats in Washington.
Gov Otter's big fear is that if he doesn't cave in and create a state
socialist health care system, the feds will jump in and do it for us.
Buzz, wrong! The feds are bluffing. They don't have the money,
time, or resources to build federally subsidized state health care exchanges
in each of the 50 states, or even in the 20 states which have, thus far,
said, "Hell No!" Gov Otter's fear is just that: an unfounded
fear and that's just what Obama and His Socialist Goons are hoping for.
They're hoping each state Governor will cave in from sheer fear of the
federal government.
But one must never cave in to fear of The Bully. The Bully is not
strong. He is weak. But he is counting on your fear. He
has no inherent strength that he doesn't first
obtain from you. How does he get his power from you?
Easy. He convinces you to go along with his premises, that it's
philosophically OK to "tax the rich," "redistribute your property," or force
you to purchase health care insurance from the federal government.
So the main problem with choices (1) or (2) is that if you accept your opponent's basic premise -- i.e.
that the government has the right to
strip you of your freedoms and force you to buy any commodity or service --
you automatically lose the debate and then all your opponent has to do -- since
you accepted his premise -- is just finish you off with all kinds of new
laws, false rhetoric, economic sophisms, more bureaucracy and more government intervention
into whatever premise you just gave up.
What should Gov Otter do? He should stand firm
on principles of Liberty and the US Constitution and just say, "Hell no!" No to federal
intervention on health care, no to federal intervention in all areas of
the free market. Period.
Idahonians (new word), send an email to Gov
Otter and your Idaho state legislators NOW and DEMAND -- don't be some nicey-nicey wussie
and politely ask for your freedoms, DEMAND them -- DEMAND that the state of Idaho,
along with 20 other states who are refusing to set up an Obamacare health
exchange, vote "No" in the state legislature to set up a socialist
state health care system.
You should send an email to Gov Butch Otter and DEMAND that he
lead the
charge against Obamacare. Be like Gov Christie of New
Jersey; be more like Gov Jan Brewer of Arizona. Just say "NO!"
Gov Otter's now deceased Libertarian
teacher, Ralph Smeed, would be rolling over in his grave right about now if
he saw how Butch is caving in on the principles of Liberty. Time to Man
Up,
Governor! Grow some cajones, be a real cowboy, and stand up for what's right:
freedom of choice in Idaho for all services and commodities. Free minds, free
markets.
C'mon Butch. Don't be the federal government's bitch. Stop
giving us this whining crap about how you don't have a choice. You DO
have a choice and that choice is a big fat, "Hell NO!" to the federal
government. We should have said "No" to the federal government on all
their interventionism a long time ago. Now we're not only in bed with
them, we're practically pregnant.
